This October, the Immersion Future Ventures and iiCare Foundation team will travel to Ghana for the Ashesi University Deep Dive — a three-day experience exploring Africa’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem and the global partnerships shaping its future.
Hosted by Ashesi University, one of Africa’s leading institutions for ethical leadership and entrepreneurship, the Deep Dive brings together world-class innovators, educators, and investors to examine how human-centered innovation can drive economic mobility and sustainable growth across the continent.
Representing Immersion will be Nathan Harris, General Partner of Immersion Future Ventures, and Dr. Afshin Safavi, Co-GP and biotech entrepreneur known for scaling his company to an $8B acquisition. Together, they will join leaders from across sectors to explore collaborative investment models, technology development, and educational innovation that bridge Africa’s ingenuity with global opportunity.
During the trip, our team will film a new immersive documentary titled “Accra’s New Era” — a cinematic journey that captures Ghana’s transformation as one of Africa’s fastest-growing innovation and cultural capitals.
From the halls of Ashesi University to the bustling streets of Accra, the film follows a diverse community of students, founders, and global partners driven by a shared obsession with progress. It tells the story of how visionaries across two continents are coming together to democratize access to education, entrepreneurship, and opportunity.
As highlighted by recent global reports, Accra is now home to over 90 active tech hubs and accelerators, serving as a magnet for global investment and creativity. From Afrobeats to architecture, the city’s influence is reshaping how the world experiences African innovation and artistry.
Our goal through this project is to spotlight the human stories behind that movement — the leaders, dreamers, and problem-solvers shaping a new generation of ethical, scalable innovation.
The Ashesi Deep Dive is more than a trip — it’s a bridge. By partnering with institutions like Ashesi, Immersion and iiCare aim to create pipelines that connect emerging African talent and technology with the infrastructure, mentorship, and capital needed to scale globally.
This initiative is part of Immersion’s larger mission to design ecosystems that merge venture development, philanthropy, and cultural storytelling, producing measurable social and economic outcomes across continents.
As the cameras roll in Accra, we’re not just documenting history — we’re helping to build it.
Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, interviews, and early previews of “Accra’s New Era” — coming soon from Immersion, iiCare, and our partners at Ashesi University, ASU’s Luminosity Labs, Brandlive, and the Social Impact Fund.
